Survival Tip
Groups of 4 are better than 3.
If someone gets hurt 2 members of the group can go for help in support of each other whilst the remaining member can stay with the injured person to assist with first aid, water, food, shelter and emotional support (very important when facing this type of situation).

LIST OF CAMPING SUPPLIES
If you are heading into the bush please make sure to let someone know where you are going and when you expect to return before you leave home. It is a good idea to give them any contact details, phone numbers (providing phones will work where you're going to go), map coordinates and copy of your map/s providing an estimated area you should be in, in case they need to contact you or vise versa .
Any further information you can provide that will assist in the search and rescue process if need be.
If you are looking for some ideas on what you should take when going camping or into the outdoors consider the following:
- At least 1 x Pocket Survival Kit which can be placed in the pocket of your pants before you leave and not be taken out until either you return home or need it! Our very own Outback(c) Survival Kit Contains: Signal Mirror, Compass, Whistle, Basic First Aid Kit, Basic Energy Food, Fishing Gear, Cutting Blade and much more. In fact all the essential items are contained in one very small pocket sized package.
- Any Medication that you can't do without ie. Heart Medicine, Diabetes Medication or any other required medication. Be sure to take an ample supply, however long you expect to be gone for add at least 3 days extra, just in case you don't make it home when expected. Also pack some Paracetamol or whatever you can take for pain if need be, you never know
- Plenty of Water - as much as you can take.
- Water Vessel and/or at least a couple of large plastic bags to put water into
- Emergency Survival Blanket (Silver foil, reflects body heat back to you, folds up compact) and/or pack at least 1 large plastic garbage bag (works well as makeshift sleeping bag)
- 2 boxes of Matches sealed in a plastic bag to keep them dry or our ST Fire Striker
- A Mobile Phone and/or 2 Way Radio (if it will work where you are going), can't hurt in an emergency.
- We recommed the above EMERGENCY items be carried as the BARE MINIMUM in addition to the other items that you will pack into your kit. These EMERGENCY items should not be touched UNLESS IT IS AN EMERGENCY! Always consider any possible scenarios that may happen and plan for them for example, what happens if the car breaks down? What if your plane crashed? What if you get lost on your bush walk?
CAMPING ITEMS YOU WILL NEED - General
In addition to the above, you will need to take into account what considerations there are when spending time outdoors. Some things you might need are:
- Adequate shelter ie. Tent
- Sleeping bag/s
- Enough Food and Water (don't forget extra for above, keep seperate)
- Oblutionary needs (Toilet Paper and Shovel)
- First Aid Kit (emergency precaution)
- Map of the area
- Compass
- Whistle (emergency precaution)
- Mobile phone (emergency precaution)
- CB Radio (emergency precaution)
- Handheld GPS receiver (emergency precaution)
- Anything else you can't do without.
Have fun on your trip and remember "Prior Preparation + Prior Knowledge = FUTURE SURVIVAL"
