ITEMS NEEDED - Emergency
Backup
If
you are heading into the bush please
make sure to let someone know
where you are
going and when you expect to return before
you leave home. It
is a good idea to give them any
contact details, phone numbers (providing phones will
work where you're going to go), map coordinates and copy
of your map/s
providing an estimated area you should be in,
in case they need to contact you or vise versa .
Any further
information you can provide that will assist in the search and rescue
process if need be. If
you are looking for some ideas on what you should take when going
camping or into the outdoors consider the following:
At
least 1 x Pocket Survival Kit (Contains
very
useful survival items), this kit
should be placed in the pocket of your pants before you leave and not
be taken out until you return home! Contains: Signal Mirror, Compass,
Whistle, Basic
First Aid Kit, Basic
Energy Food, Fishing
Gear, Cutting
Blade and much
more... (Compact

details. Any
Medication that you can't do without ie. Heart Medicine, Diabetes
Medication or any other required medication. Be sure to take
an ample supply, however long you expect to be gone for add at least 3
days extra, just in case you don't make it home when
expected. Also pack some Paracetamol or whatever you can take
for pain if need be, you never know Plenty
of Water Water
Vessel and/or at least a couple of large plastic bags to put water into Emergency
Survival Blanket (Silver foil, reflects body heat back to you, folds up
compact) and/or pack at least 1 large plastic garbage bag (works well
as makeshift sleeping bag) 2
boxes of Matches sealed in a plastic bag to keep them dry A
Mobile Phone and/or 2 Way Radio (if it will work where you are going),
can't hurt in an
emergency. Do

items be carried as the BARE MINIMUM
in addition to the other items that you will pack into your
kit. These EMERGENCY
items should not be touched UNLESS
IT
IS AN EMERGENCY!
Always consider any possible scenarios that may happen and plan for
them for
example,
what happens if the car breaks down? What if your plane crashed? What
if you get lost on your bush walk? CAMPING

In
addition to the above, you will need to take into account what
considerations there are when spending time outdoors.
Some things you will
need:
* Adequate shelter ie. Tent
* Sleeping bag/s
* Enough Food and Water (don't forget
extra for above, keep seperate)
* Oblutionary needs (Toilet Paper and
Shovel)
* First Aid Kit (emergency precaution)
* Map of the area
* Compass
* Mobile phone (emergency precaution)
* CB Radio (emergency precaution)
* Anything else you can't do without.
